Give each client a private, read-only page with their projects' progress, the hours worked, the assigned team and their invoices. Their contacts sign in with a code sent by email, and you decide which sections they see.
Replaces Status report emails
Free up to 5 people · No cardWhy share a portal instead of a report
Fewer "how's it going?" emails
The client checks progress, hours and pending invoices whenever they want. Your project managers stop writing the same status email every Friday.
Always up to date
The portal reads the same data your team works with. There's no report to prepare and nothing goes stale the day after you send it.
Transparency that keeps clients
Seeing the hours and progress behind every invoice heads off billing disputes and makes the renewal an easier conversation.
Progress and hours, without the status report
Each project shows its status, progress and team, and the hours section breaks down the time logged this month and over the last six. Try the toggle: it works just like in the portal.
- ✓Status and progress of every project, from tasks or estimated hours
- ✓Hours per project this month and over the last six months
- ✓Hours banks and estimates show how much has been used
- ✓Each project's latest update, only if you choose to share it
Invoices the client downloads on their own
Issued invoices with due dates, amounts and payment status, filterable and downloadable as PDF. The client sees what's pending and what's overdue before you have to chase them.
- ✓Paid, pending and overdue at a glance
- ✓PDF download of every invoice
- ✓Pending total and amount invoiced this year
- ✓Only admins and directors can publish this section
You decide what each client sees
Every client has a Portal tab in Monton: turn the portal on, choose the sections and tick which contacts can sign in. Whatever is off never leaves the database.
- ✓Projects, hours, team and invoices, switched on one by one
- ✓Project updates only when you opt in: they're written for the team
- ✓Access only for the client contacts you select
- ✓Change the link and every open session is signed out
Share your first portal today
- 1
Open the client
In CRM → Clients, open the client and go to the Portal tab.
- 2
Choose what they see
Turn on the sections, tick the contacts who can sign in and save.
- 3
Send the link
Copy the link and send it. Contacts sign in with a 6-digit code we email them.
Private by design
Client contacts aren't Monton users: they have no password and don't take up a seat. To sign in they enter their email and receive a 6-digit code that expires in 10 minutes, and only the addresses you ticked can request one. The session lasts seven days and is checked again on every visit: if you turn the portal off, change the link or remove a contact, access is cut off at once.
The portal shows only what you switch on, and only that client's data: sections that are off aren't hidden in the browser, they're never sent. Your team's project updates stay internal until someone decides to share them, and the invoices section can only be published by admins and directors. Before sending the link, open it with your own session to see exactly what the client will see.
Client portal FAQ
- Do clients need a Monton account?
- No. Contacts sign in with their email and a one-time code, with no password and no account. They don't count towards your plan's seats either.
- What can the client see?
- Only the sections you turn on: projects (status, progress, team and dates), hours logged over the last six months, the assigned team with roles and hours this month, and invoices with their PDF. Project updates only appear if you enable them explicitly.
- Can the client change anything?
- No. The portal is read only: the client can browse, filter invoices and download PDFs, but can't edit any data.
- How do I remove someone's access?
- Untick the contact and save, turn the portal off, or change the link. Any of the three takes effect immediately, including for sessions that are already open.
- What language is the portal in?
- It follows your organization's language in Monton: Spanish, English, Catalan or Italian, with dates and amounts formatted to match.
- Does the client portal cost extra?
- No. It's included in every plan, the free plan too, and you can turn it on for as many clients as you like.
